D: ( Disa uniflora , cardinalis, caulescens, tripetaloides and hybrids ) Disas are better growing outdoors in summer or in a well aerated greenhouse. They like much light and tolerate temperatures near 0° C in winter. Several composts are suitable. For example: 1 part pumice gravel, 1 part perlite, 0,2 part peat or peat moss. Good drainage is very important. Plants grow in nature on streambanks or nearby and compost should never be allowed to dry. Fertilization should be low ( 10% of recommended concentration). Water should be low in dissolved salts, such as rainwate, distilled water or RO water.

Ea: ( ground orchids from mountain eastern Africa as Bonatea and some Disas) Climate at habitat is: cold and dry winters, warm and rainy summers. Plants need strict cool and dry rest period. Habitats are sunny seasonal more or less moist and acid meadows. Compost: acid red sandstone mixes with very well drainage or mixes with 1 part pumice gravel, O,5 part perlite, 0,1 part peat, 0,1 part coconut fibres.

Dth: plants are growing well in sphagnum bog.
